DeForrest Fine’s entrancing visual aesthetic is rooted in Rachelle’s lifelong fascination with tarot cards and occult literature. Motifs of astronomy, botany, ancient myths and feminine power appear throughout her collection, filling each piece with magic and mysticism.
From her first metalsmithing class at age 19, jewelry-making was part of her world. On a journey to master the craft, she earned countless certifications and got hands-on experience working as a bench jeweler for a major online jewelry retailer. With a distinctly original style and a longing to create something of her own, DeForrest Fine was born.

Rachelle’s penchant for mysticism materializes in a curated collection of mesmerizing opals and sapphires, celestial engravings, antique diamonds and serpent forms. Each piece is made exclusively by Rachelle in her Napa Valley studio, from initial design and gemstone selection to casting, stone setting and hand-engraving. The resulting designs are sculptural and profound works of art that accentuate each stone’s raw beauty.

Each stone is ethically sourced and traceable. DeForrest Fine opals come directly from Australian opal miners who cut them in-house. If you’d like to learn more about the superior quality of Australian opals, please visit our FAQ page. All other DeForrest Fine gemstones are from U.S.-based dealers who ethically source the rough gem and cut it themselves or mine it locally, like Montana sapphires.
